Up La Purisima
Mission La Purisima Concepcion was founded in 1787.
This mission is unusual in that it was built in a straight line rather than in a quadrangle for protection.
The mission was restored by the CCC during the Depression, using many of the same building techniques used by the Indians to build the original.
It is now a beautifully maintained California State park. Since it is not a parish church, it can be visited any day of the week without disturbing church-goers. You may, however, get to share your visit with some of the thousands of California school children who visit this park during the school year.
